Agriculture industry in Indonesia- statistics & facts
Indonesia is one of the world’s largest producers and exporters of agricultural products, supplying important commodities such as palm oil, natural rubber, cocoa, coffee, rice, and spices to the rest of the world.
In the past decades, the agricultural industry is also the largest sector of employment in the country.
However, the share of the Indonesian agricultural sector’s GDP has been decreasing as the country shifts towards industrialization.
Coconut Oil Price Rally to Continue in 2022 on Boosting Demand
Coconut oil prices will grow moderately this year, following the fundamental trend relevant to all vegetable oils. The average annual coconut oil price is set to grow by 2.3% y-o-y to $1,674 per tonne in 2022 due to limited supply and rising logistic costs.
The average annual coconut oil price is forecast to rise by 2.3% y-o-y to $1,674 per tonne in 2022 ( IndexBox calculates based on World Bank’s Data ). In 2021, the average annual coconut oil price soared by 62% y-o-y to $1,636 per ton.
What is Cocoa Powder?
Cocoa powder is an end product after cacao beans have been fermented, roasted and pressed to extract most of the cocoa butter.
Natural cocoa powder may not have the word “natural” on the label. It might simply say “cocoa” along with “unsweetened” or “baking,” but these are all the same type. Generally light brown in color, natural cocoa is acidic (with a pH around 5) and tends to be fruitier and more intensely flavored than Dutch-process cocoa.
Also called “Dutched” or “alkalized,” Dutch-process cocoa powder has been treated with an alkali solution to increase the pH to between roughly 7 and 8. The effect is a mellower, often richer flavor and a darker color.
